About the Sacred Ibis

Sacred ibis are heron-like birds that have mainly white feathers, a bare black-skinned neck and head, a black beak and black legs.

Habitat and Distribution

Sacred ibis are found around lakes, rivers and coasts, as well as grassland and urban areas in sub-Saharan Africa.

Family Information

They often live in groups of anything up to 300 birds, but nest in larger groups of up to 2,000 pairs.Sacred ibis lay between two and four eggs at a time, but not many chicks survive in the wild.
