Work is now well underway down at the Lemurland site, the area has been cleared and the first foundations have been laid down.

Lemurland is an exciting new addition to Drusillas, offering an up close and personal walk-through experience allowing you to get nose to nose with our ring-tailed lemurs. So make sure you keep your eye on the latest developments.

What Agouti-ful Couple Antonio and Azara
Like any good fairytale it looks like the story of Antonio, our Azara’s agouti, is going to end happily ever after. After a search to find Antonio a mate his new sweetheart was found at Shaldon Wildlife Trust and the agouti-ful couple are getting on famously.

In the wild Azara’s agoutis are found throughout South America and are considered vulnerable due to the destruction of their natural habitat.

After such an encouraging start keepers hope to hear the pitter-patter of tiny paws in the not too distant future.
Ivor Ivor New Lady
On the subject of budding romances our male pygmy marmoset Ivor, who has been at Drusillas since 2004, has been formally introduced to Kito, a female pygmy marmoset who has now made Drusillas her home after arriving from Banham Zoo.

These miniature marvels are regarded as the smallest monkeys in the world, fitting comfortably into the palm of a human hand when fully grown.

Ivor has been helping Kito marmoset-ling into her new home so make sure you check out the happy couple next time you're at the Park.
A Saki Discovery Suri
After a lot of guessing and excitement we have discovered that our baby white faced saki monkey is a little girl.

At a young age it is very difficult to tell if a white faced saki monkey is a male or female, however, as they mature the colouring of their face is an easy tell tale sign.

Male white faced saki monkeys have the white faces which give this species their name and the females keep their brown faces.

As our saki baby has kept her brown fur this provided the keepers with enough evidence to be able tell the little saki of fun is female and she has been given the name of Suri.
Amazone Venture into the Ama-zone
Don’t forget that the fun doesn’t have to stop because of the weather!

Amazon Adventure, Drusillas state-of-the-art indoor play area, offers a safari of tunnels, slides, climbing and soft play over three levels and is brilliant fun for all little monkeys come rain or shine.
Zoo-per Training Zoop-er Training
Keepers are continuously training and learning new skills to ensure the highest standards in animal care. This sometimes means sharing each other's expertise and offering support to other keepers both within Drusillas and other parks.

Claire Bacon, a keeper from Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire joined the Drusillas team for two days to learn all about keeping Humboldt penguins. Drusillas has an excellent record for breeding and caring for this species and our keepers showed Claire all the requirements in making sure all a penguin's needs are p-p-p-perfect.
News in Brief
Gibbon
Micro-Chips off the ol' Block

Pattani, our young lar gibbon and our two youngest meerkats have all recently been given true identities by being microchipped.

These tiny chips store data about the animals so that they can easily be identified and monitored.

Viewing Dome A Clearer View

The popular viewing dome in our meerkat enclosure has had a bit of a face lift.

After a good deep clean all intrepid Drusillas explorers now have a crystal clear 360 degree glimpse into the world of these little burrowers.
