It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas at Drusillas Park

13th November 2017

Get ready to lose yourself in a world of magic and enchantment this Christmas at Drusillas Park. From Saturday 18th November their dazzling Winter Wonderland will be returning once again.

Since the start of November, the little elves on Drusillas Estate team have been busily constructing the Winter Wonderland Illuminations ready for lighting up this weekend.

Located in the Events Arena, the impressive Winter Wonderland scene takes approximately three weeks to complete. Around 70,000 LED lights are used to create the display, specifically chosen for their low energy consumption and environmental benefits.

Introduced to the zoo for the first time in 2012, the Winter Wonderland Illuminations have proved a popular Christmas attraction each and every year. Synchronised to festive music, the dazzling display incorporates a host of magical creatures in an ice-capped kingdom including reindeers, penguins, seals and polar bears. There are also mini trees, a 20ft mega tree and an LED waterfall and running stream.

The 2017 show promises to be as spectacular as ever, with a selection of Christmas classics guaranteed to get visitors in the festive swing! The Illuminations will then run every day until Monday 1st January, with a light show at 4.30pm daily. However, there’s still a mountain of work to do before this year’s ice-capped kingdom finally comes to light!

The illuminations are not the only thing to come and see at Drusillas’ enchanting Winter Wonderland though! If your little elves have been on their best behaviour this year why not bring them down to meet the big man himself? Santa Claus will be returning to his Christmas Cottage during weekends from 18th November, then daily from 14th to 23rd December.

Keep your Christmas spirits up with a visit to two of Santa’s personal reindeer. Rudolph’s relatives, Tinsel and Twinkle, will be meeting visitors in the Events Arena from Saturday 18th November until Saturday 23rd December.

There will also be the opportunity to come face-to-face with a husky in Drusillas’ Husky Ice Cave! The loveable canines will be waiting to meet and greet visitors at intervals throughout the day at weekends from Saturday 18th November, then daily from Thursday 14th December.
