Thomas Back on Track following Storms

Staff at Drusillas Park, Alfriston worked flat out to get the Thomas & Friends™ train back on track, after high winds brought a large tree down causing trouble on the line.

The award-winning Park reopened after Christmas on 27th December to find the popular railway blocked, threatening disruption to services. It took the Estate Team an hour to get to the root of the problem; luckily the branch line was back up and running in time for the Park opening at 10am.

Drusillas became the first UK attraction to introduce a permanent Thomas train in 2007, after securing a deal with HIT Entertainment. Since then Thomas remains one of the Park’s most popular attractions, operating daily services from Tidmouth Hault 362 days of the year.

Elsewhere in the Park, the animals appeared to weather the storms very well. The Keepers were in throughout the Christmas period, keeping a close eye on the zoo’s furry and feathered residents. Most of the animals stayed within the safety and warmth of their indoor enclosures, only venturing out once the storm had passed.
