




Colombian Black Spider Monkey
Ateles fusciceps rufiventris

Spider monkeys are named from their spider-like appearance, having very long limbs and long prehensile tail, which they use like an extra arm. They have a very small thumb and use their hands like hooks when swinging through the trees. These spider monkey can live for up to 24 years.
Colombian black spider monkeys are found in forests in Colombia and Panama.
Spider monkeys can live in groups of up to 30 monkeys.
