About the Pygmy Marmosets

The pygmy marmoset is brown and tan in colour and is the smallest monkey in the world! Its head and body length can measure up to 140mm and its tail can add a further 200mm! An adult weighs between 85 – 140g.

Habitat and Distribution

Pygmy marmosets prefer the floodplain forests and natural forest edges. They come from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, northern Bolivia and Brazil.

Family Information

Marmosets live in extended family groups of between four and fifteen individuals. These marmosets usually give birth to twins every five to six months.
